POINT, PROCESS PROJECT! (2025)
PPP.jpg

In Autumn 2025, Alison created Point, Process, Project! a free analogue filmmaking workshop for staff and PhD students from the University of Leeds.

In an intensive, one-day workshop, artist-filmmaker Joanna Byrne led participants through a day of learning and making. This involved filming on campus with super 8 cameras (the ‘point’), developing the colour films in the darkroom (the ‘process’) and then screening the films on an 8mm projector in the School of Media and Communication's cinema (the ‘project’).

No knowledge or experience with filmmaking was required. Absolute beginners were welcomed, and the workshop was open to anyone with a curiosity about analogue film. All materials (including cameras and film) were provided, and the finished films were sent off to be digitised to be made available to participants at a later date.

The Point, Process, Project! team was Alison, Michelle Duxbury, Miriam Kent and Quan Zhang. This workshop was free for all participants, due to generous funding from the University of Leeds' Centre for Practice Research in the Arts, and the School of Media and Communication Research Events Fund.
